Gift Giving

March is Birthday Month in my family so I thought this would be a good opportunity to talk about gifts.

I hate them. HA!

To elaborate on that, I hate spending money on gifts out of obligation like birthdays or Christmas. Meaningful gifts are few and far between. And with so many Americans in debt, gift-giving just seems to add insult to injury!

So here’s another option: Gift an experience. Gift TIME. Make dinner for someone and enjoy a meal together. Treat them to a fun outing you would both enjoy. Give something personalized or handmade (that is often cheap or free!).

Somehow I don’t think a new iPhone, iPad or Fitbit says “I love you” as much as giving of yourself.

How do you handle gifts? Any good ideas for cheap but meaningful gifts?
